Versailles

A three and a half story Dutch Colonial Revival building, The Woodford Inn is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Cleveland House.  Originally opening in 1869 as the Cleveland Orphan Home, it is now a charming B&B Inn. Addie’s Restaurant, inside the Inn, serves a variety of delicious homemade southern specialties for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Versailles was founded on June 23, 1792, on 80 acres of land owned by Hezekiah Brisco. His guardian, Major Marquis Calmes, named the town after Versailles, France, though it is pronounced differently from that famous city.

Versailles is the county seat of Woodford County and has a population of approximately 8,500.

Notable Woodford County horse farms include: Ashford Stud, Brookdale Farm,
Gainsborough, Lanes End Farm, Pin Oak Stud, Stonewall Farm and WinStar Farm.
